We have expertise in surveying the many populations our partners serve, analyzing the results, and providing expert guidance.
Currently, our local surveys program helps libraries understand the perceptions of their faculty members and students as they make strategic plans for their campus.
S+R spent time with us, learning our background, and developed an additional survey module that addressed perfectly what we were trying to learn: how our faculty approach online teaching and what type of support they are looking for.
How can colleges and universities support student success? What roadblocks stand in the way?
Working with dozens of institutions, Ithaka S+R has rigorously analyzed how institutions improve student learning, graduation rates, and time to degree.
Through the Educational Transformation Assessment (ETA) program, we use these best practices to help higher ed leaders measure progress on their own campuses and provide customized insights on how to help students succeed.
Research Support Services
As research practices evolve, are libraries addressing the changing needs of their users?
Ithaka S+R’s Research Support Services program offers libraries a methodological approach to understand the specific needs and practices of researchers in discrete disciplines on their own campuses.
We seek the support and participation of libraries, scholarly societies, and publishers as we uncover the needs of researchers. We are about to embark on studies of Public Health and Asian Studies and are actively seeking recommendations for additional disciplines.
Ithaka S+R works with our partners to design studies, seek external funding, and serve as independent evaluators of their programs and initiatives. Our experience includes using qualitative and quantitative research methods to assess and evaluate:
- Student success interventions
- Technology-enhanced education
- Diversity initiatives
- Degree completion programs
- Learning spaces
- Publishing programs
- Virtual & physical library collections
- Data management plans
- Competency-based education
- Access & enrollment strategies
Many of our research reports are made possible through the sponsorship and support of:
We develop workshops on a variety of topics for the communities we serve. Currently, we are offering workshops at professional conferences for librarians and publishers on two major themes:
- Evidence based decision making
- Business modeling for digital resources and library services
Contact us if you would like us to tailor workshops on these themes or other topics for your organization.
