Roger Schonfeld and Alisa Rod will be speaking at several events at the ALA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

Friday, June 27, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Roger Schonfeld will deliver the keynote address on “Library Transformations: The Views of Academic Library Leaders” at ProQuest Day: “Transforming Libraries, Transforming Research.” What vision do America’s academic library leaders have for their institutions? How would they allocate their budgets if more funds were made available to them? What impediments do they face in their efforts to drive change? In this presentation, Schonfeld will address these questions with a snapshot of American academic library leadership from the Ithaka S+R Library Survey 2013, to lead in a robust discussion of the transformations facing American academic libraries. Please note: registration is required to attend.

Ithaka S+R’s local surveys program can help your institution continue adapting to changing stakeholder needs. In addition to our well-known surveys of faculty members, we also provide survey options to cover your undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. And, we have a variety of services to help you interpret your survey findings and drive evidence-based decision-making at your library, as well as more broadly in your college or university.

Join Roger Schonfeld and Alisa Rod  for an information session about how Ithaka S+R can help your library. Recent local survey participants will be on hand to describe how they tailored the surveys to meet the particular needs of their institution and how the results have helped to inform their strategic planning.

Ithaka S+R is offering a workshop on Evidence-Driven Planning for Your Library’s Role in Discovery.  Led by Roger Schonfeld and Alisa Rod, this workshop is designed to help academic and research libraries make evidence-based decisions about how to support user discovery at their institutions. The workshop will encompass:

  1. An overview of national-level data to help contextualize the issue of user discovery and frame some of the key questions that individual institutions may wish to consider;
  2. Group discussion of strategies for incorporating evidence most effectively into institutional decision-making on these topics;
  3. Group review of participants’ institution-level data, including what is useful and what is missing;
  4. Time to begin formulating institutional plans for structuring evidence-based decision-making processes on these issues.

Participants will benefit from this workshop by improving their ability to incorporate evidence into decision-making processes about the library’s role in discovery.
