On Tuesday, May 8, Roger Schonfeld and Liam Sweeney are presenting on the case studies in museum diversity at the American Alliance of Museums Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. They will be joined by Nicole Ivy, the director of inclusion at the American Alliance of Museums. For more information and to register, please see the AAM website.

About the program:

Several case studies were conducted as a follow-up to the groundbreaking 2015 Art Museum Staff Demographic Survey funded by the Mellon Foundation and undertaken in partnership with the Association of Art Museum Directors and the American Alliance of Museums. In this session, the research team will share its findings and engage attendees in how they might use the report to foster a culture of inclusion in their institutions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how you might use cutting-edge research about museum inclusion as a tool for benchmarking and action.
  • Learn how peer institutions have successfully advanced diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in their executive leadership, internal operations, and public-facing practices.
  • Pair quantitative knowledge about the state of racial and ethnic diversity in the field with a deeper dive into qualitative data about how inclusive practices work on the ground.
