Roger Schonfeld is speaking on “What’s Next for Discovery: Personalization, Current Awareness, and Delivery?” at the Association of Subscription Agents Conference on Tuesday, February 17.

Schonfeld’s presentation will focus on three main themes:

  1. Discovery versus delivery. Are user-reported problems with discovery actually failures in delivery? Especially off campus, it takes users far too many clicks to get to content.
  2. Shift in value. Google-driven search and the big service initiatives from Elsevier and MacMillan (Digital Science) are driving the unit of value towards the article level, further enabling article-level sales models including DDA.
  3. Personalization and current awareness. These are important drivers of value in the sciences now, and we should expect  other fields to follow.
