Emily Tichenor
Emily Tichenor is a member of Ithaka’s S+R Educational Transformation team leading initiatives and research focused on credit mobility. Emily currently serves as program manager for the Articulation of Credit Transfer (ACT) Project, which originated as a collaboration with the City University of New York (CUNY) that developed the groundbreaking transfer information website CUNY Transfer Explorer (T-Rex). The project is expanding nationally with the launch of a national Universal Credit Transfer Explorer with institutions across four states in 2024. ACT seeks to open the black box of credit transfer by increasing the visibility of and number of transfer equivalences at institutions and across higher education systems. Access to this vital information can help students explore their transfer options, plan their path, and count their earned credits toward a degree.
Prior to joining Ithaka, Emily served for eight years at Tulsa Community College in a number of leadership roles including Director of Academic Affairs Projects, Director of University Transfer, and Library Director. During her time at TCC, Emily served as co-lead for the Tulsa Transfer Project and a committee chair for the Tulsa Higher Education Task Force both of which sought to improve collaborative relationships between seven higher education institutions in the Tulsa region and improve outcomes for transfer students. As Director of University Transfer, she founded a new college department, developed student facing transfer resources and programming, maintained strategic internal and external relationships, and developed a comprehensive TCC2University website. She served as a Board Member and Chair of the Strategy Oversight Committee for the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium.
Before her career in higher education, Emily served for seven years at the Tulsa City-County Library in a variety of roles including Library Manager and system-wide Children’s Services Coordinator. She holds a Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism and Broadcast from Oklahoma State University.
