Emily Norweg is a fellow working on the Higher Education in Prison research project with Ithaka S+R’s Educational Transformation team. She is a doctoral candidate at Georgetown University, where she is writing a dissertation on the history of higher education in US prisons. The inspiration for Emily’s research stemmed from her experience volunteering as an instructor for the Georgetown Prison Scholars Program at the D.C. Jail. Prior to beginning her doctoral work, Emily taught history at a public high school in Massachusetts. She holds an MA in History from Georgetown, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College, and a BA in History from Georgetown.
