Ruby MacDougall is an intern with Ithaka S+R’s Libraries, Scholarly Communication, and Museums team where she is currently working on a research project on the topic of data communities, data sharing, and data re-use in the humanities. Prior to working with Ithaka, she worked in education consulting and curriculum design in China and the United States. She received her BA in art history from SUNY Purchase, her MA in Asian studies (China focus) from the University of Hawaii, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan. A life-long dancer, she has performed professionally in both ballet and modern dance in the US and has trained in Jingju (Peking opera) and Chinese dance. Her dissertation in progress examines the legacy of the YWCA and Ginling Women’s College on dance practices in China and the US. Her published research appears in Asian Theatre Journal.
