From November 30 through December 1, the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine will hold a public workshop to inform the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other agencies as they develop or update policies to enhance public access to the results of research funded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HSS). The workshop will cover topics related to scholarly publications, convening authors, researchers, libraries, scholarly publishers, students, and educators.

At 10:00am on Friday, December 1, Ithaka S+R’s Roger Schonfeld will join a session on “Research Results: Findability, Transparency, and Accessibility,” alongside Lori Schultz, Chris Shillum, Jamie Wittenberg, and Joseph Yracheta. The session will cover benchmarks to monitor trends for equity in publication opportunities, metrics to assess and evaluate accessibility for HHS-funded research results, and ways to improve use of persistent identifiers and metadata.
