For the past two years, universities have been grappling with the implications of Chat-GPT and other tools that have put generative AI into the hands of students and faculty. As libraries and other university units develop policies, programming, and resources to support the ethical adoption of generative AI, they need empirical evidence about how campus communities are using it.

In a presentation at Temple University on February 6 at 2pm, Dylan Ruediger will share findings from three major Ithaka S+R research projects and their university partners in 2024 to provide a detailed landscape perspective on how faculty are using generative AI in teaching and research. These projects include surveys of 2500 instructors and 2500 researchers (with an emphasis on biomedical researchers) about their attitudes and practices with generative AI, and 250 interviews with faculty conducted by 18 universities, including Temple, participating in our Making AI Generative for Higher Education project.
