The Chronicle's Virtual Leadership Program for Librarians
Ithaka S+R and The Chronicle of Higher Education are collaborating on an innovative professional development program tailored to the needs of prospective and current library leaders. This two-week program is designed to provide librarians with critical context on national trends to drive institutional success.
The program will include seminars on:
- National Trends in Higher Education – July 14, 1pm ET
- Understanding the Higher Ed Business Model – July 15, 1pm ET
- Academic Libraries and Artificial Intelligence – July 16, 1pm ET
- The Library Leading Through Innovation – July 17, 1pm ET
In addition, the program offers a range of workshop topics that can suit different professional development needs and institutional contexts. Topic options include:
- Change Management – July 21 or July 22: This session equips library leaders to lead organizational change with clarity and resilience with tools, frameworks, and real-world strategies using group exercises and applied planning.
- Active Collection Management for Contemporary Libraries – July 23: This session helps library leaders navigate evolving collection strategies and budget constraints, offering practical tools to reassess acquisition models, vendor partnerships, and growth opportunities.
- The Library’s Role in Student Learning – July 24: This session explores how libraries can lead efforts to support student learning and ethical AI use, partner with faculty on assessment design, and create inclusive, inquiry-driven environments that meet evolving academic needs.
