William G. Bowen, October 6, 1933 – October 20, 2016
The world has lost a uniquely gifted leader and friend. Bill Bowen passed away peacefully on October 20, 2016. He dedicated his entire professional life to the world of education, and was founding chairman of JSTOR and ITHAKA and founding trustee of Artstor. We extend our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

It is very sad and shocking to hear that Mr William G. Bowen the founder of ITAHKA passed away. Mr Bowen opened the treasure house of learning and understanding by making knowledge accessible to all who needed. Mr William G Bowen wide opened the door to accessible moving library he created along with his colleagues at ITHAKA/JSTOR. He shsll be remembered in the history of educational information and annals of academic world.
