Colleges and universities across the country are planning for a fall semester unlike any other. Now more than ever, the health and safety of the campus community and the needs of the most vulnerable students should guide decisions about whether and how to resume in-person campus activities in Fall 2020.

To facilitate institutional collaboration and planning during this period of uncertainty, Ithaka S+R is launching an effort to aggregate and synthesize information related to fall reopening from colleges and universities across the country. To do this, we have designed a questionnaire that captures information about institutional plans in four broad areas:

  • Rigorous testing, tracing and supported isolation,
  • Changes to policies and facilities to keep the campus community as safe as possible,
  • Efforts to protect the local community and vulnerable populations, and
  • Efforts to promote and protect equity.

Institutional representatives can complete the questionnaire, or they can submit their detailed plans for Ithaka S+R  to complete on the institution’s behalf. We are also happy to interview appropriate institutional contacts via phone to capture this information.

If you would like to participate in this effort, please complete the questionnaire, send your planning documents, or request an interview by emailing Elizabeth Banes (elizabeth.banes@ithaka.org).

The responses to the questionnaire are publicly available here. Users can filter information by institutional characteristics, including location, sector, enrollment size and cohort mix, and residential mix. We plan for this to be a living document, updated as institutions finalize their plans. Participating institutions may request anonymity when completing the questionnaire.
