Embracing Digital Transformation in Higher Education
Shaping the Future of Teaching & Learning
Ithaka S+R’s Mark McBride will deliver the keynote address at Fredonia’s 17th Annual Teaching & Learning Conference, Digital Transformation: Leveraging Technology for Student Success, on Monday, August 14. The keynotes session will reflect on the steps higher education has taken in adopting digital technology into the campus ecosystem, including the affordances of digital learning and the increasing demand from students for higher education to take a digital-first approach to teaching and learning. Largely due to previous exposure in the K-12 environment and in their personal lives, student expectations of the role of digital technology in the college setting have rapidly evolved. Open education resources, digital courseware, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have all emerged as pivotal tools in transforming the way we teach and learn.
Given the rising demand for digital learning, this presentation will concentrate on tactical initiatives aimed at boosting student participation and solidifying academic rigor in an education environment that is steadily tilting towards digital dominance. In spite of the many obstacles, such as the intricacies of digital literacy, disparities in access, and the potentially steep learning curve of many novel technologies, we will also focus on how institutions of higher education are making these transitions without losing their core focus on instilling a passion for lifelong learning in their students.
