In September 2025, we are convening a new Integrating AI Literacy into the Curricula cohort to help colleges and universities move from ad hoc experimentation to sustainable, curriculum-integrated practice. Building on the momentum of our spring activities with 45 participating institutions, we will apply the same cross-campus approach that centers collaboration between libraries and educators, helping translate research into practical, shareable models.

Our reflections from the spring cohort meetings captured a landscape of both progress and fragmentation. Some institutions are piloting AI literacy certificates and structured offerings, while others are still laying the groundwork. So far, we have observed that uptake of AI varies widely by discipline, younger faculty are often more open to classroom use, and policies and practices remain inconsistent across departments. Many AI literacy efforts are still siloed, and faculty development typically outpaces student-facing programming. These fault lines underscore the need for campus-wide guidance, coordination, and goals.

Libraries bring deep expertise in the information sciences and essential infrastructure for teaching digital and data literacy. This strength makes them natural leaders in advancing AI literacy. We are pleased to announce that the following 13 institutions are participating in the project this fall.
